ABOUT CHINTA

CHEF WEERAPON (KOB):
AUTHENTIC EXPERTISE
FROM PHICHIT TO BROOKLYN

With a wok and paddle as his shield and sword, Kob’s journey in cooking has shaped him into the chef he is today. From a young age, he was tasked with preparing meals for his household and his father’s construction crew. Through trial and error, and feedback from a diverse array of people, he honed his own recipes, techniques, and cooking secrets.

Growing up in Phichit, Kob lived by the mantra, 'In the farm, there is rice; in the river, there is fish.' His expertise lies in these staples, refined over years of running his own restaurant and bakery in Thailand. After moving to New York City with his wife, Kob continued to develop his culinary skills in a Thai restaurant in the Prospect Park area, perfecting his recipes.

Now, Kob is excited to bring you authentic flavors with a creative twist, delivering a unique dining experience we call 'CHINTA.'

Chef Treerawat is a passionate modern chef with deep roots in traditional Thai cuisine. Born and raised in Phichit province, known for its famous Jasmine rice, pomelo, and lime, he graduated with a degree in Food Science and Technology from Chiang Mai University. This education fueled his interest in food innovation, creation, and the science behind flavors.

Reflecting on his childhood, Chef Treerawat says, 'Growing up on a farm in a conservative village surrounded by rice fields, pomelo orchards, and rivers, I cherished watching our agricultural community harvest rice, catch fish, and gather fresh ingredients like lime, lemongrass, and basil for dinner after a long day of farming. In my village, we revered rice as a goddess and had special methods for cooking it. Every house had bunches of rice plants hanging from the ceiling as a way to pray and determine the harvest time.'

His grandmother, who inspired his culinary journey, taught him the art and intricacies of cooking. Always by her side, especially during meal preparations, he learned every dimension of traditional Thai cooking. In 2017, Chef Treerawat moved to New York to explore new culinary inspirations. During the pandemic, he began hosting multi-course dinners, initially for his roommates, which quickly expanded to friends and family. His dishes, predominantly Thai with a twist of Japanese and Western influences, showcase his unique culinary perspective.
